Post. Brooklyn\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/12\/06\/nba-china-macao-brooklyn-nets-phoenix-suns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/12\/06\/nba-china-macao-brooklyn-nets-phoenix-suns\/\">preseason games against the Suns in Macao<\/a> next month mark the NBA\u2019s return to China for the first time since 2019. The Nets are owned by Joe Tsai, one of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2022\/04\/14\/People-and-Pop-Culture\/Joe-Tsai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2022\/04\/14\/People-and-Pop-Culture\/Joe-Tsai\/\">most successful businessmen in China<\/a>.\u201d The franchise signed Chinese National Team F Fanbo Zeng. Lewis noted that the league\u2019s broadcast deal with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2019\/10\/08\/Technology\/nba-china-tencent-houston-rockets-coverage-suspension-hong-kong-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2019\/10\/08\/Technology\/nba-china-tencent-houston-rockets-coverage-suspension-hong-kong-protests\/\">Tencent<\/a> &#8212; \u201cestimated to be worth\u201d $1.5B &#8212; expired this summer. With a \u201cprocession of the biggest names in the NBA having ventured to China over the past several months\u201d &#8212; along with Tsai and the Nets arriving in two weeks for a \u201cmuch-hyped event\u201d &#8212; it would be the \u201cperfect time to announce an extension.\u201d For Fanbo, the trip to Macao will be \u201csomething of a homecoming.\u201d For the fans in China, it will be a \u201cchance to see one of their own play in an NBA uniform live on home soil.\u201d It is a \u201ctrek that will help the franchise keep building their international brand &#8212; and help the NBA rebuild its lucrative relationship with China\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/23\/sports\/nets-have-assumed-key-role-in-trying-to-rebuild-nbas-china-ties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/23\/sports\/nets-have-assumed-key-role-in-trying-to-rebuild-nbas-china-ties\/\">N.Y.
