OKC’s Cason Wallace ready for bigger role as Thunder training camp opens<\/a><\/p>\nOklahoma City Thunder forward Chet Holmgren says he used the offseason to sharpen his game and return stronger for the 2025\u201326 NBA season, telling reporters he\u2019s ready to help the team build on last year\u2019s NBA Finals run.<\/p>\n
Holmgren spoke after the Thunder\u2019s first practice of training camp at Paycom Center, where he highlighted the importance of rhythm and conditioning as the season approaches.<\/p>\n
Focused on Offseason Improvement<\/p>\n
Holmgren said he takes advantage of downtime to grow his game in ways he can\u2019t during the grind of the NBA season.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of people use the offseason to do what they can\u2019t do in-season lifestyle-wise. I use the offseason to do what I can\u2019t do in-season basketball-wise,\u201d Holmgren said. \u201cThere\u2019s only so much energy you can expend in the middle of a season, so this is when I can really get after it.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the summer gave him a chance to fine-tune his skills, study last season\u2019s film, and continue building strength and conditioning.<\/p>\n
Continuity in Oklahoma City<\/p>\n
For the first time in his career, Holmgren said he\u2019s experiencing significant continuity from one season to the next.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only is it great to see familiar faces that you\u2019ve already played with,\u201d Holmgren said, \u201cbut it\u2019s especially great with this group of guys. There\u2019s no group I\u2019d rather see year after year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Thunder return their Finals core, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, giving Oklahoma City high expectations heading into the new NBA season.<\/p>\n
