{"id":324030,"date":"2025-10-06T04:46:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-06T04:46:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/324030\/"},"modified":"2025-10-06T04:46:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T04:46:09","slug":"no-7-arkansas-scores-four-unanswered-goals-to-defeat-no-13-mississippi-state-4-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/324030\/","title":{"rendered":"No. 7 Arkansas Scores Four Unanswered Goals to Defeat No. 13 Mississippi State, 4-2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FAYETTEVILLE \u2013\u00a0No. 7 Arkansas soccer (7-2-2, 5-0-1 SEC) conceded two goals in the first six minutes of the match against No. 13 Mississippi State (9-2-1, 4-1-1 SEC) but scored four straight to pick up a 4-2 win and take sole possession of first place in the SEC standings.<\/p>\n<p>How it Happened<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs, unbeaten in SEC play before tonight\u2019s match, netted a pair of goals from distance to open the scoring at Razorback Field. Zoe Main had the first in the third minute, followed by a strike from Tatum Borman that snuck under the crossbar in the sixth minute.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas cut into Mississippi State\u2019s lead when forward Taylor Berman drew a foul inside the penalty box in the 34th minute. After a video review, the penalty was confirmed and senior midfielder Zoe Susi lined up to take the kick.\u00a0Susi fired right past a left-diving Sarah Wommack, the State goalkeeper.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time since the 2:51 mark, the match was tied in the 47th minute after sophomore Kyndal Ewertz redirected a well-placed ball from freshman Molly Teed past Wommack.<\/p>\n<p>The Razorbacks grabbed the lead in the 56th minute after Berman headed in a free kick from freshman Presley Marvil. Insurance was added in the final 10 minutes, Ewertz\u2019s second goal, after she took a pass from Susi at midfield all the way to the top of the 18-yard box.<\/p>\n<p>Despite allowing two goals early, Arkansas goalkeeper Evie Vitali made six saves in the second half to keep the Bulldogs at bay.<\/p>\n<p>Mississippi State outshot Arkansas 22-14.<\/p>\n<p>Game Notes<\/p>\n<p>The Razorbacks extended their SEC home match unbeaten streak, which dates back to 2020, to 24 matches.<br \/>\nKyndal Ewertz notched her first collegiate brace.<br \/>\nThe Bulldogs had won 15 straight SEC matches before tonight. Their last loss came in 2023 against Arkansas at Razorback Field.<br \/>\nThe Hogs held Mississippi State star Ally Perry to just one shot on target. Perry had scored in each of State\u2019s first five SEC matches this season.<br \/>\nFreshmen Molly Teed and Presley Marvil recorded their first collegiate assists.<br \/>\nEwertz, Susi and freshman Vailana Tu\u2019ua lead the team with four goals each.<\/p>\n<p>Up Next<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas will travel to No. 17 Georgia next Friday night.
