Second-year center Alex Sarr<\/a> returned to the practice floor in a limited capacity Monday, taking part in non-contact work for the first time this fall, per Josh Robbins of The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft, suffered a right calf injury during EuroBasket and had been sidelined since. The Wizards have maintained optimism that he\u2019ll be ready for opening night, and Monday\u2019s participation was an encouraging sign.<\/p>\n The 7-footer averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in 67 games as a rookie last season.<\/p>\n Timberwolves<\/p>\n Bones Hyland<\/a> made an early statement in Minnesota\u2019s preseason opener against Denver, leading the team with 18 points in 22 minutes, along with three assists and just one turnover, writes Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n Hyland is currently slotted behind Mike Conley<\/a> and Rob Dillingham<\/a> on the depth chart, but his strong camp and preseason debut could make the point guard rotation interesting. Minnesota traded up to draft Dillingham eighth overall in 2024, and the Wolves are heavily invested in his development.<\/p>\n Hyland re-signed with Minnesota in September after joining late last season on a two-way deal.
