But his dreams, like the dreams of so many other Green Teamers<\/a>, took a major hit when Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles<\/a> late in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.<\/p>\n Tatum had surgery<\/a> Tuesday and won\u2019t return to the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Knicks. He\u2019ll likely miss the majority \u2014 if not all \u2014 of the 2025-26 campaign, as well.<\/p>\n Speaking to The Boston Globe\u2019s Adam Himmelsbach, the Celtics\u2019 lead governor reacted to Tatum\u2019s devastating injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cJayson has a warrior mentality like the rest of his teammates,\u201d Grousbeck told Himmelsbach. \u201cHe will work very hard to get back, and in the meantime, the Celtics will fight hard for every game.\u201d<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n Grousbeck, unsurprisingly, did not offer any insight into the organization\u2019s plans for the future. Those conversations, however, will take place in the near future, given the seismic impact Tatum\u2019s injury will have on the franchise.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Boston, which enters the offseason with new majority ownership, was expected to make major changes<\/a> this summer. It needs to cut finances<\/a> with a historic luxury tax bill staring the team in the face. Since the four-time All-NBA selection might not return to full health before the 2026-27 campaign, the uncertainty is even more glaring.<\/p>\n
