In an interview with college basketball reporter Andy Katz (Twitter video link<\/a>), Georgetown big man Thomas Sorber<\/a> said he has made up his mind to keep his name in the NBA Draft.<\/p>\n

Sorber maintained his eligibility when he declared for the draft<\/a> in late March. He\u2019ll have to miss much of the pre-draft process because he\u2019s still recovering after undergoing foot surgery in February. That led to speculation that Sorber might opt for another year of college basketball, but he tells Katz that he\u2019s \u201call in\u201d when it comes to the draft.<\/p>\n

Sorber also provided an update on his medical status, saying that doctors expect him to be ready to resume playing in late July or early August.<\/p>\n

Sorber is ranked 23rd on ESPN\u2019s big board<\/a> and seems likely to be selected somewhere in the latter part of the first round. He wasn\u2019t considered a sure-fire first-round pick when he arrived at Georgetown, but he boosted his status with a strong freshman season, averaging 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in 24 games before the injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I showed a lot of toughness, like at an early part of my Georgetown career,\u201d Sorber said. \u201cI showed a lot of fight. I was able to show how I was able to read the game. That\u2019s what a lot of teams said. And my ability to play out on defense, my ability to block shots, read screens, tighter drop or switch. They just like my quick thinking, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

We have updates on several other draft prospects:<\/p>\n

Arizona guard Carter Bryant<\/a> has also decided to stay in the draft, telling ESPN\u2019s Jeff Borzello (Twitter link<\/a>), \u201cI\u2019m completely in.\u201d Bryant saw limited playing time with the Wildcats during his freshman season, but his defensive prowess and outside shooting have him projected as a potential lottery pick in several mock drafts. He\u2019s listed as the 18th-best prospect by ESPN.
\nBorzello also reports that North Carolina guard Drake Powell<\/a>, who posted outstanding numbers in his athletic tests at the combine, will remain in the draft (Twitter link<\/a>). \u201cAll-in on the draft. Door\u2019s closed,\u201d said Powell, who\u2019s 32nd in ESPN\u2019s rankings. \u201c(Coach) Hubert Davis has been very supportive during this process. I\u2019ve known him for a long time \u2026 and he\u2019s just happy for me.\u201d
\nAlabama guard Labaron Philon<\/a> will also keep his name in the draft, Borzello states in a full story<\/a>. Philon, who\u2019s 43rd on ESPN\u2019s list, said he\u2019s \u201call-in on the draft\u201d and has already informed coach Nate Oats.
\nFormer Washington State guard Cedric Coward<\/a>, who plans to transfer to Duke if he remains in college, and Florida big man Alex Condon<\/a> will both gauge their feedback at the combine before making final decisions, according to Borzello.
\nYaxel Lendeborg<\/a>, who\u2019s transferring from UAB to Michigan, is \u201cpretty even\u201d about staying in the draft or not, Borzello adds. Lendeborg hopes to be a top 20 pick and said his decision will become easier if he doesn\u2019t feel like he\u2019s in that range.
\nHouston\u2019s Milos Uzan<\/a> told reporters at the combine that he\u2019s \u201call-in on the draft,\u201d but Borzello states that coach Kelvin Sampson is giving all his players the option to return if they don\u2019t like their projected draft status.
\nTahaad Pettiford<\/a> is one of the top players taking part in the combine scrimmages, and Borzello views him as a player on the rise.
