SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) \u2014 Penn grad Markus Burton is the first Notre Dame player selected to the preseason first team All-ACC list since John Mooney in 2019.<\/p>\n
Burton averaged a league-best 21.3 points per game last year as a sophomore and was a second-team all-conference selection.<\/p>\n
He also improved from beyond the arc, going from a 30.0 percent shooter freshman year to 37.5 percent as a sophomore. In ACC play, he shot 40.2 percent from deep.<\/p>\n
Burton was also tied third for ACC preseason player of the year voting, alongside former Irish guard JJ Starling of Syracuse.<\/p>\n
Notre Dame was picked to finish 10th out of the 18 teams in the league.<\/p>\n
