The Chicago Bulls have a chance to draft Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick. It’s just not a very good one.<\/p>\n

Well, Bulls fans, if you have that “never say never” mindset, it’s time to bring it out. It has worked before. The Bulls ended the 2024\u201325 season with a record of 39\u201343 that concluded with a loss in the NBA Play-In Tournament at the hands of the Miami Heat. The Bulls have once again finished their season in a way that does not show much hope for the future.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve drafted some solid talent in recent years\u2014Coby White has emerged as a legitimate scoring option, and last year\u2019s pick, Matas Buzelis, looks promising. Josh Giddey also turned it on late in the year, adding another dimension to the team\u2019s versatility. They can be electrifying at times and fun to watch, but they still haven\u2019t landed the player who can push the franchise past the middle of the pack and into the upper tier.<\/p>\n

The biggest name in college basketball right now is Duke\u2019s Cooper Flagg. He\u2019s the type of player who will almost certainly go No. 1 in the 2025 NBA Draft, no matter which team wins the lottery. If the Bulls somehow landed him, it would feel like destiny stepped in to change everything. NBA.com<\/a> has already laid out the odds\u2014and Chicago\u2019s are sitting at just 1.7%. That\u2019s the third-lowest shot in the entire lottery.<\/p>\n

Still, all hope isn\u2019t lost.<\/p>\n

The last time the Bulls had a 1.7% chance of getting the No. 1 pick, they won the lottery and drafted Derrick Rose.<\/p>\n

Even if they don’t win the lottery, there is still a chance for this offseason to be a major win for the Bulls.<\/p>\n

Throughout the years of NBA basketball we’ve seen all kinds of superstars emerge from the draft who weren’t even top 5.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen stars come out of nowhere before. Jimmy Butler was the 30th pick. Giannis Antetokounmpo went 15th. It\u2019s not always about landing the top pick\u2014it\u2019s about hitting when it\u2019s your turn to swing. The Bulls need to draft smarter and stop swinging for fit over upside. Someone with elite potential could still be waiting outside the top five.<\/p>\n

Perhaps this can be a similar story for the Bulls.<\/p>\n
