She is the reason behind James\u2019 successful career in basketball, and he knows it well, too. Gloria James calls herself the \u201cMother of the King\u201d and has a tattoo, \u201cQueen James\u201d that says otherwise. Born on February 4, 1968, Gloria James is from Akron, Ohio. She has two brothers, Terry and Curt James. She gave birth to LeBron James at the age of just 16 and now helps run the James Family Foundation. Poverty hit them hard after James was born. Later, he was sent to a foster home when Gloria James couldn\u2019t pay the bills. <\/p>\n

Being a mother at the age of just 16 is not for the weak, and Gloria James had her own share of ups and downs. With LeBron James\u2019 dad leaving them right after he was born, Gloria James, with the help of her mother, Freda James Howard, took care of LeBron James. But after the death of grandmother Howard, things became tough for the mother and son. Gloria James had to make ends meet to support her only family at that time, her son LeBron James. In an interview, LeBron James said, \u201cJust how much responsibility that comes with being a single mom every single day, you don’t have that other half or that helping male influence in the house that can \u2014 especially in my case, being a son \u2014 that can give you that fatherly love or that fatherly guidance\u201d.<\/p>\n

LeBron James shares a special bond with his mother and gives her all the credit for his success in the big leagues. She has been very supportive of her son. In an interview, James said, \u201cShe gave me strength to a point where I never even had to think about that, and I have no idea where she got it from\u201d. He also added, \u201cTo this day I still won’t even ask her, but she’s definitely the champion\u201d. Gloria James never pushed her son, LeBron James, to become an NBA player. She gave him the full freedom to choose or do whatever he wants with his life. \u201cWhat I want for LeBron is his happiness. He loves basketball\u201d, she said. \u201cBut I would like to see him graduate with his class from high school, at least. But we’ll make a decision when the time comes\u201d, she added further.
