INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WMC) – Memphian and recent NBA Draft pick Kam Jones was arrested for reckless driving and resisting arrest after a police chase.<\/p>\n
Indiana State Police say Jones was spotted in a black Cadillac driving over 90 miles per hour in a 50 MPH zone on I-70 around 10 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n
The Cadillac was seen rapidly changing lanes and following too close to other vehicles, per the ISP report.<\/p>\n
A trooper made an attempt to pull the driver over, which led to a chase.<\/p>\n
When stopped, Jones told the trooper he did not know he was speeding and that he was running late for practice with the Pacers.<\/p>\n
Eventually, Jones was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and felony resisting arrest.<\/p>\n
Jones, 23, grew up in Memphis<\/a> and was a star for Evangelical Christian School, leading them to the state semifinals on two occasions.<\/p>\n He was recently drafted in the second round of the NBA Draft out of Marquette by the Indiana Pacers, where he has yet to make his NBA debut.<\/p>\n The Pacers released this statement on the arrest:<\/p>\n We are aware of the situation involving Kam Jones. We are in the process of gathering additional information and will not have any further comment on the matter at this time.<\/p>\n Jones was given a $1,000 bond. He\u2019s due back in court on October 23.<\/p>\n
