SALT LAKE CITY \u2013\u00a0The Utah Jazz announced Tuesday that they plan to move the team\u2019s practice facility to The Shops At South Town.<\/p>\n

The Shops at South Town also host the Utah Mammoth<\/a> practice facility which opened in September ahead of the NHL season.<\/p>\n

The Jazz practice facility will sit adjacent to the 146,000 square foot Mammoth facility in Sandy.<\/p>\n

Jazz Practice Facility Moving To Sandy<\/p>\n

The Jazz will move their practice facility out of the Zions Bank Basketball Campus near downtown Salt Lake City, with construction expected to begin this fall.<\/p>\n

The Larry H. Miller Group, owners of the team from 1985-2020, opened the $20 million Zions Bank Basketball Campus in 2017.<\/p>\n

The new world-class facility in Sandy will span the 111-acre site. It\u2019s designed to be a massive campus that brings hockey, basketball and the Smith Entertainment Group\u2019s corporate offices all under one roof.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re building an amazing sports campus here with the Jazz practice facility connected to the Utah Mammoth practice facility, including the opportunity for the teams to cross-collaborate and support each others\u2019 development,\u201d Ryan and Ashley Smith, of Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) said. \u201cBy also incorporating our business offices,\u00a0 this campus will promote efficiency, innovation, and collaboration, continuing to focus on bringing the best experiences to our fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ryan and Ashley Smith said once the hockey team moved there<\/a>, the idea of moving the Jazz, too, started to grow.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you take one of the teams and shift it south, you\u2019re thinking, \u2018Is there a center of gravity here?\u2019 It\u2019s just worked out so well from where people are living anywhere around here or even a little further south that it was the right fit,\u201d Ashley and Ryan Smith said.<\/p>\n

According to a release from the team, the new facility will include\u00a0two basketball courts, a team locker room, state-of-the-art workout and training spaces, a performance kitchen, and amenities designed to foster player development and team connectivity.<\/p>\n

Renderings of the Jazz practice facility reveal the team\u2019s locker rooms, executive offices, courts, and position north east of the Mammoth facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cSEG continues to invest in the Jazz, showing our players and fans their commitment to building a world-class organization,\u201d Jazz President of Basketball Operations Austin Ainge said. \u201cThey are constantly looking at innovative ways to help our players achieve their potential. This will be a state-of-the-art facility and a tremendous environment where our players and coaches can work, train, and develop.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mammoth training facility includes a fully equipped lounge space, a kitchen, a gym, recovery pools, a sauna, and two ice rinks.<\/p>\n
