The Charlotte Hornets<\/a> continued their first road trip of the season Sunday night against the Washington Wizards<\/a>, looking to bounce back from a close loss the previous evening to the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After narrowly missing a triple-double Saturday, finishing with 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, LaMelo Ball would not be denied in the second leg of the back-to-back. His all-around performance powered Charlotte to a dominant 26-point victory and gave the Hornets another encouraging sign of growth early in the season.<\/p>\n

Against Washington, Ball erupted for 37 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, securing his first triple-double of the year. He also finished with three steals, marking his second consecutive game with three thefts.<\/p>\n

Ball\u2019s activity on both ends set the tone early, allowing the Hornets to control pace, dictate tempo and create transition opportunities throughout the night.<\/p>\n

Charlotte benefited from strong contributions around its star as well. Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton and rookie guard Kon Knueppel each scored 20 or more points, giving the Hornets balance across the starting lineup. Knueppel continued his efficient shooting, finishing 7-for-12 from the field, while Sexton converted 7-of-10 attempts.<\/p>\n

Off the bench, rookie Sion James impressed again, adding 13 points, three assists, two steals and one block while shooting perfectly from 3-point range. Backup big man Moussa Diabat\u00e9 posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds along with two blocks, showcasing improved interior physicality.<\/p>\n

The lopsided nature of the win allowed Charlotte to empty its bench and debut several new pieces. Veteran wing Pat Connaughton, acquired from the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> in the offseason, made his Hornets debut, and first-round pick Liam McNeeley out of UConn saw his first NBA action.<\/p>\n

Charlotte will now enjoy a much-needed rest day on Monday before continuing its road trip in South Beach against the Miami Heat<\/a>. Having recorded wins against struggling teams like Brooklyn and Washington, the matchup with Miami should provide a stronger measuring stick for how far the Hornets have progressed since last season.<\/p>\n
