The Boston Celtics should never have let themselves end up in a position where a potential missed call by an official would be enough to decide a game against a team that is widely seen as one of the worst in the NBA’s Western Conference. Yet that is exactly what ended up going down late in the Celtics’ 105-103 loss to the Utah Jazz<\/a> at TD Garden on Monday (Nov. 3) night.<\/p>\n

Late in the contest, Jazz guard Keyonte George appeared to slip on a wet spot in the game’s final moments, and when his spill on the parquet caused star Boston forward Jaylen Brown to slip and lose possession in a critical moment, no ref called what is usually an automatic foul. Brown took issue with the lack of a whistle when asked about the play postgame. “Man, y\u2019all are going to get me fined because you can\u2019t have a mistake like that as an official at that point in the game,” protested the Georgia native.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s (the) fourth quarter\u2014it\u2019s a minute left in the game, or less, and you completely\u2014the whole staff blows the (expletive) call,” said Brown, “you know what I mean?”<\/p>\n

“It cost us the game — unacceptable,” he continued. “You can make mistakes at any point in the game, but right there, that wasn\u2019t good.”<\/p>\n

“That wasn\u2019t good, it\u2019s unacceptable. And they (were) telling me like, \u2018Oh, like, we didn\u2019t see it.\u2019 Like, how (did) none of you see it? You can\u2019t trip somebody in the fourth quarter and it just be a no-call. That\u2019s some (expletive).”<\/p>\n
