The 3-year man out of Colorado is still looking to earn his stripes in this league and make his presence known out on the floor.

Walker’s numbers haven’t been all that impressive or have jumped off the page, but he has done a lot of the dirty work on the floor to earn the trust of coach Nick Nurse and the staff. He is continuing to watch film, ask questions, and truly find his niche in order to find his way in Philadelphia.

Before Saturday’s matchup with the Toronto Raptors, Walker talked with Sixers Wire to discuss his adjustment with the Sixers.

“I think I’m still in the beginning areas,” Walker said. “I think there’s a couple things that still need to open up for me, like the shot that I’ve worked so hard on so I think that’s a huge element. Just as far as, like, confidence and just the spacing on the floor and things like that. Then, just a little bit more aggression just to really take pressure off some of the guys so I think that just comes with some new personnel and timing, but it’s coming at a slower pace than I thought, but it’s exciting to still see the progression every day.”

Nurse and the Sixers have been pushing Walker to shoot the 3-pointer at a high rate. He can knock down those shots–he shot 38.9% from deep in Portland in 2024-25–but he has not yet found his rhythm just yet. As he mentioned, it hasn’t come as quickly for him as he would like, but he isn’t pouting. He is continuing to work and believe things will turn around quickly. He did knock down two 3s in Sunday’s contest with the Detroit Pistons.

“It’s a mindset thing,” Walker added. “Watching film. We watch a lot of film and I get the green light on a lot of shots that I haven’t taken so it’s really just a mindset shift and, obviously, seeing the ball go through the net boosts your confidence on taking more and I don’t shoot that many a game so sometimes it drags out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if when I see the first one goes in and a flurry starts to go in or I get hot so it’s just kinda being patient, waiting for that moment, but also just having the right mindset still.”

With that being said, Walker is going to do whatever it takes to help the Sixers win. He is enjoying his time with this group and that’s the focus for him. Not his individual stats.

“Honestly, I love this team, so the main thing is winning and we’ve done a good job of that,” Walker continued. “We know we can compete at a high level. That’s keeping me grounded that we’re winning and there’s results. I’m still learning my things on the side, but honestly, my intentions are pure with the team.”

Walker will eventually have a big night which will trigger a big stretch for him, but for now, he is continuing his adjustment to anew team and is working on finding his niche and role around what the Sixers want him to do.

“Wherever I can help is wherever I can help and that’s with me being more aggressive,” he finished. “Obviously, coach told me I gotta be more aggressive and knock down those shots because it opens up everything, so if that’s what helps the team, that’s what’s my mindset needs to be and then, defensively, that’s something I can always rely on, but honestly, this team, this city deserves so much, so I put a lot of pressure on myself to just do a lot for the organization.”

Walker had 12 points and five rebounds against Detroit on Sunday and the hope is that he will now be able to grow off of that performance.

PHILADELPHIA — After three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, Jabari Walker signed a two-way deal with the…

[3769
679,7,601,6175,7213,6,67,3117,6724,8181,61,134,2361,678,207,3817,687,471,132,66,83,688,641
0":"post-402079","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-philadelphia-76ers","8":"tag-76ers","9":"tag-basketball","10":"tag-blazers","11":"tag-jabari","12":"tag-jabari-walker","13":"tag-nba","14":"tag-news","15":"tag-nick","16":"tag-nick-nurse","17":"tag-nurse","18":"tag-overall","19":"tag-overall-positive","20":"tag-pa","21":"tag-philadelphia","22":"tag-philadelphia-76ers","23":"tag-philadelphia76ers","24":"tag-portland","25":"tag-portland-trail-blazers","26":"tag-positive","27":"tag-sports","28":"tag-sports-news","29":"tag-trail","30":"tag-walker
["GET
