Patrick Beverley has been in the headlines quite a bit since his last NBA season in 2023-24, and generally for non-basketball reasons. Just last week, the former Houston Rockets guard took a jab (albeit a playful one) at Dallas Mavericks sharpshooter Klay Thompson regarding his relationship with Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion, stating that the rapper is the reason for Thompson\u2019s poor play to start the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n
\u201dI\u2019ve never seen Klay not shoot it like this..His routine is thrown off. I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s her\u2026 I watch them on Instagram\u2026 The guy was juggling. It\u2019s easy to juggle one thing, but when you put something else in there it\u2019s harder, [your] focus takes off a lil bit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prior to the start of the season, Beverley traded barbs with Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young, downplaying his \u201cempty stats\u201d and criticizing his leadership (or lack thereof).<\/p>\n
Okay, chalk this all up to the transition to Beverley\u2019s \u201cmedia career\u201d.<\/p>\n
Although it\u2019s mostly been Pat Bev jumping on podcasts, not providing insightful analysis, breaking down X\u2019s and O\u2019s, or diving into game film.<\/p>\n
Oh, and throwing shade at Chris Paul on ESPN\u2019s First Take (understandably, since he was traded for him).<\/p>\n
It\u2019s all about staying relevant, I get it. Somewhat.<\/p>\n
ESPN\u2019s Tim Legler doesn\u2019t have that problem and he played far longer ago than Pat Bev.<\/p>\n
Chalk it up to Beverley\u2019s loquacious personality and fiery temperament. When channeled correctly, during his playing days, it gave he and his teammates a boost.<\/p>\n
Off the court, however, it\u2019s much different.<\/p>\n
Case in point, Beverley\u2019s arrest in Fort Bend County over the weekend.<\/p>\n
The Fort Bend County Sheriff\u2019s office was called to a residence in Rosharon, Texas (in the outskirts of Houston) at 3:50 AM (que the \u201cnothing good happens after 12 AM\u201d adage).<\/p>\n
As it turns out, Beverley was arrested and charged with assault, family \/household impeding breath in the third degree, which is a felony, in Beverley\u2019s case.<\/p>\n
