When users click on the NBA\u2019s profile picture, they will be redirected to the event they\u2019re promoting, even if that means sending users away from Bluesky. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe aren\u2019t trapping you in Bluesky,\u201d wrote Rose Wang, COO of Bluesky, in a post on Sunday. \u201cWe want you to use Bluesky to discover what\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under its previous ownership, Twitter had tried streaming live sports in the app, spending <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2016\/7\/6\/12104722\/twitter-live-stream-wimbledon-nfl\" target=\"_blank\">millions of dollars<\/a> on licensing deals with sports leagues. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Bluesky, currently propped up by venture capital, does not rely on advertising to make money, unlike most other platforms. That means Bluesky doesn\u2019t have a direct financial stake in users\u2019 time spent on the platform, so long as they have an experience that makes them want to keep coming back. In that regard, Bluesky can cheaply direct users to watch sports elsewhere, rather than shelling out millions for the rights to stream certain games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wang confirmed that Bluesky will also be testing this feature for WNBA games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s wise for Bluesky to invest in its utility for sports fans. \u201cSports Twitter\u201d (no one calls it \u201cSports X\u201d) remains a valuable resource for fans to react in real time when they\u2019re watching a game or chasing down trade rumors.
