Before he can make his way to the Bluegrass State, Kentucky commit Andrija Jelavi\u0107<\/a> must first finish up the postseason with his Serbian professional team. <\/p>\n

Suiting up for Mega Superbet, Jelaiv\u0107 did not have his best outing a few days ago in the opening round of the ABA (Adriatic) League playoffs. Already down 1-0 in a three-game series against Budu\u0107nost VOLI, Mega Superbet came up short in Game 2 on Friday, losing 92-87<\/a> and thus getting knocked out of the league\u2019s postseason. Jelaiv\u0107 recorded only four points on 2-6 shooting, but still managed 11 rebounds and four assists in his team-high 33 minutes. <\/p>\n

However, despite the loss, Mega Superbet\u2019s season isn\u2019t finished just yet. <\/p>\n

A couple of days later, on Sunday, Jelavi\u0107 and his teammates moved over to a different Serbian league, KLS (otherwise known as the Serbian Basketball League), for the first matchup of a three-game quarterfinal series against FMP Soccerbet. Mega Superbet took another loss, 86-81<\/a>, but not because of an off game from Jelavi\u0107. The incoming Kentucky freshman was a standout performer in Game 1, going for 20 points (8-10 FG), 14 rebounds, and two blocks in a team-high 32 minutes of action. <\/p>\n

Mega Superbet will need another good showing from Jelavi\u0107, who turns 21 a week from today, if they want to keep their season alive. A decisive Game 2 against FMP Soccerbet is set for Wednesday. The winner of the series advances to the semifinals, while the other is packing up and going home for good.<\/p>\n

With his season in the ABA League officially behind him, Jelavi\u0107 made his mark as one of the top young prospects in the entire league. <\/p>\n

Across 29 games played, the 6-foot-11 stretch forward posted per-game averages of 10.7 points, 7.4 rebounds (second in the league), and 1.6 assists in 27.5 minutes. He shot 48.5 percent overall from the field, 30.5 percent on three-pointers, and 69.1 percent from the free throw line in what was his second season with the program. Mega Superbet earned the 8-seed in the tournament with a regular season record of 16-14, but ran into the top-seeded Budu\u0107nost VOLI (26-4) in the postseason opener and couldn\u2019t muster up enough wins to advance.<\/p>\n

Once Jelavi\u0107\u2019s run in the KLS Playoffs wraps up, he\u2019ll begin the process of making the move to the United States.
