Anytime you\u2019re mentioned in the same breath as Larry Bird<\/a>, you\u2019re probably doing something pretty special. Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown earned that distinction on Saturday night when he registered a huge game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n

Brown\u2019s stat line of 41 points (17-for-32 FG), seven assists, six rebounds and five steals made him only the second player in Celtics history<\/a> to have a single game with 40+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 5+ steals, the other being Larry Legend.<\/p>\n

Brown has put forth a Herculean effort for the Celtics this season. He\u2019s among the top few players in the entire NBA in usage, and he hasn\u2019t missed a single game for Bosotn yet (despite dealing with injuries), averaging 28.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists on 49.8 percent shooting.<\/p>\n

Brown has kept the Celtics competitive during a year that many people assumed they\u2019d be a lottery team. Jayson Tatum has been sidelined as he continues to rehab his Achilles, and the Celts lost four major members of their championship core this past offseason with the departures of Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, Luke Kornet and Kristaps Porzingis.<\/p>\n

But Brown has kept grinding, and he\u2019s teamed up with Boston\u2019s other staples \u2014 Derrick White and Payton Pritchard \u2014 to prevent a drop-off.<\/p>\n

Brown won an NBA Finals MVP and has made a Second Team All-NBA (2023), but this current season so far is his magnum opus and greatest gift to the Celtics franchise. JB has taken on the largest burden of his career, and he\u2019s thriving.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s hope Brown can stay healthy and the Celtics can keep playing winning basketball. It\u2019s been one of the most interesting and rewarding seasons to watch from a die-hard fan\u2019s perspective, but then again, the campaign is only about a quarter of the way through.<\/p>\n

Now that the Celtics have shown they can be a playoff team, falling short of a postseason berth would be a disappointment.
