{"id":465504,"date":"2025-12-10T21:15:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T21:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/465504\/"},"modified":"2025-12-10T21:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T21:15:11","slug":"kansas-assistant-was-in-attendance-to-watch-no-1-recruit-tyran-stokes-on-tuesday-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/465504\/","title":{"rendered":"Kansas assistant was in attendance to watch No. 1 recruit Tyran Stokes on Tuesday night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/sites\/jayhawk-slant\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas<\/a> assistant coach <a href=\"https:\/\/kuathletics.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/kurtis-townsend\/939\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kurtis Townsend<\/a> was in attendance Tuesday night for No. 1-ranked recruit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/tyran-stokes-174854\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyran Stokes<\/a>\u2019 first home game at Rainier Beach High School (WA), a source told Rivals.<\/p>\n<p>Stokes, a 6-foot-7 small forward, finished with a monster stat line: 27 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, eight steals, two blocks, and the win over Bishop Blanchet (WA).<\/p>\n<p>Kansas is one of three finalists for the five-star standout, joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/kentucky-wildcats\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kentucky<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/oregon-ducks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oregon<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/sites\/the-dore-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vanderbilt<\/a> has now entered the picture as well, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/news\/no-1-overall-recruit-tyran-stokes-receives-offer-from-vanderbilt\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">offering<\/a> Stokes on Tuesday night. The Commodores are off to a strong start this season, sitting at 9-0 and ranked No. 15 in the AP Poll.<\/p>\n<p>A Louisville native, Stokes began his senior year at Notre Dame Prep in California before recently transferring to Rainier Beach in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>What Stokes is looking for in a school<\/p>\n<p>In a previous interview with Rivals, Tyran Stokes discussed what he wants in a college program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to play for someone who really appreciates me outside of the court,\u201d Stokes said previously. \u201cSomeone who is going to talk with me just about how things are going and not just talk basketball all the time. I\u2019m looking for a home, a place that I\u2019m going to feel comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stokes Scouting Report<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first glance, with Tyran Stokes, you see that he has the optimal positional size, the explosive athleticism, and an ability to create advantages from multiple levels of the floor. So while he is still developing into a role as an alpha player, you see that he has the immediate framework to work with. A look across the 2026 class at this point and you quickly see the lack of star power that the 2025 cycle had. So with that, a lot of the players will need to continue developing various aspects of their games.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 Stokes is no different, as there are things he is going to have to continue working through to reach his highest top-end potential. We have already touched on the balance points to help more consistently make plays off movement. Also, finding a consistent motor will be big with him.
