In any Giannis Antetokounmpo trade for the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a>, they have to ensure they receive the necessary draft assets to improve their team in the future. Whether that means drafting multiple players or using some of those picks to land another star one day, the Bucks need to be well-positioned to do so.<\/p>\n

They also need to bring back young talent, but there aren\u2019t many teams in the NBA that can offer both while still making sense as a destination for the Greek Freak.<\/p>\n

One team that does fit that description is the San Antonio Spurs<\/a>, with Dylan Harper on the roster.<\/p>\n

Some have suggested that the Spurs don\u2019t want to give up Harper, but the Bucks don\u2019t have much of a reason to move on from Antetokounmpo in a deal with San Antonio if he isn\u2019t involved.<\/p>\n

When looking at the situation, while it may be unlikely that Antetokounmpo gets traded, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype believes the Spurs and other teams around the league are still doing their due diligence.<\/p>\n

With that said, it\u2019s unlikely to keep teams such as the New York Knicks<\/a>, Miami Heat<\/a>, Golden State Warriors<\/a>, Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks<\/a>, Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a>, Houston Rockets<\/a>, and others from continuing to monitor Antetokounmpo\u2019s situation to varying degrees, looking ahead…<\/p>\n

\u201cSan Antonio has a strong young core of Victor Wembanyama (21), Dylan Harper (19), Stephon Castle (21), Devin Vassell (25), and De\u2019Aaron Fox, who turns 28 on December 20th. Acquiring Antetokounmpo (31) would move San Antonio into a more urgent win-now mode,\u201d he wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As things stand, the Spurs are in a very good position.<\/p>\n

Adding Antetokounmpo would dramatically change their timeline and force immediate contention, which may ultimately be something San Antonio decides to avoid.<\/p>\n
