Sacramento Kings<\/a> point guard Russell Westbrook can add another accolade to his resume.<\/p>\n

With his point production during Sacramento’s 129-102 loss to the Phoenix Suns<\/a> on Friday night, Westbrook passed Oscar Robertson to become the highest-scoring point guard in NBA history.<\/p>\n

Robertson scored 26,710 points over the course of his career. Westbrook now has 26,711 and counting, which is the 15th-most in league history. Westbrook becomes the fourth active player in the top 15, joining LeBron James, Kevin Durant and James Harden.<\/p>\n

When informed after the game that Westbrook had broken the record, King coach Doug Christie heaped praise<\/a> on the veteran guard.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t know that he broke another record tonight. He continues to break records,” Christie said. “Russ is a freak of nature. His competitiveness, his competitive drive, his spirit to continue to play as hard as he does, I think this is year 18 or whatever it is. [I’ve] always been a fan of his and it’s an absolute honor to coach him.”<\/p>\n
