Sacramento Kings<\/a> coach Doug Christie said rookie Maxime Raynaud was in good spirits after suffering an apparent left leg injury on Friday against the Phoenix Suns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Raynaud appeared to sustain the injury<\/a> midway through the fourth quarter after setting a screen for teammate Russell Westbrook. He immediately fell to the court in visible pain following the play and would require assistance back to the locker room.<\/p>\n

The 42nd pick wouldn’t return to the 129-102 loss on the road, finishing with six points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 25 minutes, 25 seconds of work.<\/p>\n

“He was smiling, so that is always good,” Christie said<\/a>. “Always fingers crossed with young players. He plays so hard and plays with his heart, and when you see stuff like that, it just doesn’t necessarily sit well with you. I got my fingers crossed.”<\/p>\n

Raynaud is averaging 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists on 33.3% shooting from 3-point range in 27 appearances with the Kings.\u00a0He is ninth in scoring among all first-year players and is tied for the lead in double-doubles (6).<\/p>\n

The 7-footer has started the last 13 games for Christie, averaging 13.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 56.1% from the field.\u00a0He has each of his double-doubles as a starter, becoming the first Kings rookie since Marvin Bagley III to register six in a season (2018-19<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Raynaud and the team will certainly hope his injury is minor and that he will miss minimal time.
