The Dallas Mavericks are prioritizing the acquisition of at least one impactful young talent in an Anthony Davis<\/a> trade and have interest in Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga<\/a> and Atlanta Hawks wing Zaccharie Risacher<\/a>, NBA sources told Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Warriors and Hawks are interested in trading for Davis. <\/p>\n

Golden State acquiring Davis is considered unlikely, though, since the franchise doesn\u2019t want to part ways with Draymond Green<\/a> or Jimmy Butler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSources previously told DallasHoopsJournal.com that the Mavericks are prioritizing the acquisition of at least one impactful young talent if they ultimately move Davis. \u2026 Sources told DallasHoopsJournal.com that among the players the Mavericks have interest in from teams that have discussed Davis internally are Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors and Zaccharie Risacher of the Atlanta Hawks,\u201d Afseth wrote. <\/p>\n

Davis is eligible for a four-year, $275 million maximum extension in August. The 2020 NBA champion is making $54.1 million this season. He\u2019ll make $58.5 million next season and has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season.<\/p>\n

Sources told Afseth that Davis will seek a contract extension from the Mavericks in the offseason if he doesn\u2019t get traded this season. If Dallas does trade Davis, the Chicago native and his agent \u2014 Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group \u2014 will pursue an extension with the team he gets traded to.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeague sources have downplayed the likelihood of Golden State moving either Butler or Green, and there is no known traction on multi-team constructions that would send Kuminga to Dallas while redirecting Davis elsewhere; such frameworks are potentially structurally viable should broader talks develop closer to the deadline, though they would require increased market motivation for Davis,\u201d Afseth wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cAtlanta has also remained linked to Davis, but skepticism persists regarding the Hawks\u2019 willingness to assemble a return the Mavericks would consider sufficient. Sources told DallasHoopsJournal.com that Risacher is viewed as a key piece Dallas would want from Atlanta, though the Hawks have yet to show enough motivation to include him in a trade. League sources believe Atlanta has the cleanest structural ability to construct a trade package in a two-team deal, but its willingness to do so has been described as contingent on the right price.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Warriors will trade Kuminga once his trade restriction ends on January 14. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, it\u2019s unknown for certain if the Hawks are willing to part ways with Risacher to acquire Davis.<\/p>\n

The 2026 NBA trade deadline is Feburary 5<\/a>. <\/p>\n
