NBA referee Scott Foster suffered an ugly injury on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

During the Thunder\u2019s 118-103 Game 2 win in the Western Conference finals over the Timberwolves, Foster, 58, got a brutal blow to the face from Oklahoma City forward Luguentz Dort following a jump ball midway through the first quarter.<\/p>\n

Dort, up against Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, whiffed on the ball, with his hand striking Foster during the play.<\/p>\n

Scott Foster was bloodied on the kick ball in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals.<\/p>\n

Randle also accidentally hit Foster during the jump ball, kicking him in the stomach.<\/p>\n

Foster was left with a bloody nose, causing a brief delay in the game as he received medical attention from the trainers.<\/p>\n

This is not Foster\u2019s first injury this season, as he was forced to exit a regular-season game between the Knicks and Heat with a calf injury.<\/p>\n

What makes Foster\u2019s injury tonight interesting, however, is who was in the arena to see it.<\/p>\n

Veteran point guard Chris Paul, who was on the sidelines during Thursday\u2019s game for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander\u2019s MVP presentation<\/a>, has a long history with Foster, a referee he\u2019s openly complained about in the past.<\/p>\n

Paul, 40, has an abysmal 3-17 record in playoff games that Foster has officiated, and has not been afraid to call him out.<\/p>\n

The pair\u2019s squabbles first started back in 2018, when Paul singled out Foster after the official gave him a technical foul during a regular-season game.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, Scott Foster at his finest,\u201d Paul said that night<\/a>. \u201cYou know what I mean? He just never fails. Some of them, you can [communicate] with. You\u2019ve just gotta figure out who you can and you can\u2019t. I got a tech tonight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m over there with [referee Courtney Kirkland] saying, \u2018That\u2019s Scott, that\u2019s Scott,\u2019 and I got a tech. That\u2019s history there. He the man. That\u2019s who they pay to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
