24 hours ago, it was reported that Trae Young’s time with the Hawks <\/a>is likely coming to an end.<\/p>\n

The Hawks<\/a> currently sit in the last play-in tournament spot, well below where some would have expected them to be nearly 40 games into the regular season.<\/p>\n

The Hawks will now have to try and find a destination for Young, with the NBA <\/a>Trade Deadline less than a month away (Feb. 5).<\/p>\n

When could Trae Young be traded?<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a> reported on NBA Today, “[Trae] appears to be in his final days and weeks in Atlanta after seven-plus seasons together as the face of that franchise. I’m told both Trae Young and the Hawks know he just doesn’t fit with the current team anymore.”<\/p>\n

Through 38 games, the Hawks have a record of 17-21.<\/p>\n

In Young’s 10 games played this season, the Hawks are just 2-8.<\/p>\n

The Hawks have been able to stay afloat without him, and it appears that they’ve mutually agreed that moving on from Young is the right decision.<\/p>\n

Young has a player option worth ~$50 million for next season, and can become a free agent this summer.<\/p>\n

Neither side was able to reach an extension in the period since he became eligible to negotiate one, leading to a slow fallout between Young and the Hawks.<\/p>\n

The haul Atlanta will get for Young is unknown, as there are various factors from his contract to his on-court abilities that could limit the ways teams value him in trade talks.<\/p>\n
