Just, I mean, I, I know we talked about it *** couple of days ago about. You know, how hard it is for him to find that rhythm because we’re, you know, adjusted because of the two-way stuff, but just, uh, what did you think of the job he was able to do tonight? He’s fantastic from the start, you know, I thought he impacted the game, makes winning plays, two-way guy, two-way ability, um, just, you know, proud of the way he’s handled this entire year. You know, he’s come in and made *** mark on our, our program, our team, staying ready, you know, there’s days that we’re running out, but, It doesn’t matter. His, his focus is on just helping this team. So, um, got to the rim, aggressive driver, made some shots, made some threes. Um, and he, he competes defensively, you know, so that’s all you can do. Just keep putting yourselves in position to make an impact in this league, and you, you know, you can stick around for *** while. What does it say about his, his level of professionalism to, to be able to handle the situation just the way he has night in and night out? Yeah, I mean, never complains. Uh, never pouts. It’s all about the team and the work, you know, I never worry about Bryce. He shows up every day, puts his time in, his work in, great attitude, great spirit. You do that in this league, you’re gonna have *** chance. So, um, he’s certainly making *** mark, uh, on our team, but he’s definitely opened up eyes throughout the league as well. What did you, uh, looks like the shot quality definitely got better in the 4th quarter. What did you think overall of just the shots you were able to get tonight? I think the, I mean, the quality, I, I thought it was OK. I think it can be better, obviously. Uh, the turnovers were the issue for me. Again, you know, same thing, we just, Too many turnovers, uh, spacing’s gotta be better. Decision making has to be better, um, execution has to be better. All those facets have to be better for us to not turn it over. The quality of shot, I don’t think it was great, you know, I think there were moments throughout the, the, the night where we had it, um, but in general it can be better there, but the turnovers gotta get cleaned up, uh, you know, going into Washington. What did you like out of the last kind of 5 or 6 minutes when they, they had the press was on? It seemed like that’s maybe when the pace was at its best. I know it’s, you, you know, you’re trying to come back. It’s, it’s, you know, 16th, whatever it was at that point, but just it seemed like that was kind of something that was able to get this. I think it generated momentum and energy for us, you know, the press did. It was, it’s tough to get into the press after *** make too, so we, we’re trying it in spurts, uh, after free throws. Uh, we missed *** couple of free throws that didn’t allow us to get back into the press, so. Um, but I thought it, it, it gave us *** balance and an energy there. We cut the lead to, I don’t know, 1112, something like that. Um, but I thought that group finished strong. More than anything, they, they kept competing, didn’t drop the sword, and, uh, I thought we finished strong. Good. Thanks.

Hawks roll to 117-110 victory over Pelicans as word of Trae Young-to-Wizards trade breaks

Hawks roll to 117-110 victory over Pelicans as word of Trae Young-to-Wizards trade breaks

   Updated: 9:36 PM CST Jan 7, 2026

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

Zaccharie Risacher scored 25 points, Jalen Johnson added 19 and seven Atlanta players scored in double figures Wednesday night in a 117-100 win over the New Orleans Pelicans as the Hawks traded four-time All-Star Trae Young to Washington.Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 17 points, Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kennard and Dyson Daniels added 13 points apiece, and Mouhamed Gueye finished with 10 as the Hawks snapped a two-game skid after losing consecutive games to the Toronto Raptors on Saturday and Monday. The Hawks agreed to trade Young, who was listed out for the game against New Orleans due to a quad contusion, to the Wizards for a package including veteran CJ McCollum, a person with knowledge of the move told The Associated Press.
