As the careers of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry wind down, a major era of basketball will go with them. There have been rumors that the trio would like to play at least one NBA season on the same team. Since the Sacramento Kings have nothing going on<\/a>, they should go for it.<\/p>\n

The 2025-2026 season is basically over for Sacramento at this point. The Kings have played 37 games and have only managed to win eight. They are bearing down on the halfway point of the season. It won’t take many more losses to mathematically eliminate them from the postseason.<\/p>\n

To even make the Play-In Tournament, the Kings would have to go on a massive winning streak, combined with the right teams losing a lot of games. It’s not impossible, just highly improbable, and would require some major changes to the current roster that will be difficult to pull off.<\/p>\n

General manager Scott Perry is on a mission to rebuild the team, one that he says co-owner Vivek Ranadive is fully behind<\/a>. Even if that’s true, it will take a long time to get this franchise rolling. In the meantime, there is an opportunity for the Kings to do something truly historic.<\/p>\n

Unite the big three in Sacramento<\/p>\n

Ever since James, Curry, and Durant won a gold medal together at the 2024 Summer Olympics, there has been a lot of talk of them wanting to play an actual NBA season on the same team. It’s a legitimate possibility in 2027-2028, and the Kings should be the team to do it.<\/p>\n

James is in his 23rd NBA season, and quite likely his last one as a Laker. The Golden State Warriors’ dynasty is at an end with Curry becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2027. And if Durant doesn’t take his player option, he’ll be done with the Rockets at the same time. There’s a window.<\/p>\n

Look, it’s going to take several years for the rebuild to pan out, and that’s a conservative estimate at best. By 2027-2028, the Kings will have shed most of their huge money contracts, making room for three legends looking for one last ride. Imagine Sacramento being host to that huge piece of history.<\/p>\n

Plus, the Kings will be stocked with young players like Maxime Raynaud, Nique Clifford, and Dylan Cardwell, who would love to sit under that learning tree.
