The Wisconsin Badgers had an impressive win on Saturday, upsetting the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines 91-88 on the road after entering the game as 19.5-point underdogs.<\/p>\n
It was the win that Wisconsin needed after lacking Quad 1 wins on its resume so far, and the Badgers had one of the best offensive showings of the season in the second half, catching fire at exactly the right moment.<\/p>\n
It was the biggest upset of a top team so far in college basketball, and Wisconsin found its way into the record books in several ways, according to UW Athletics.<\/p>\n
Sunday marked Wisconsin\u2019s 16th top-10 win and ninth top-five win under head coach Greg Gard, with the latter being the sixth-best mark of any team since Gard was hired. On the same note, it was the team\u2019s sixth top-10 win on the road, which is tied for the best in the nation under the same timeframe.<\/p>\n
Gard and the Badgers have been very successful against top opponents on the road, accumulating 13 wins over Top 25 teams on the road since Gard became head coach. That\u2019s good for second in the NCAA during that stretch.<\/p>\n
Over the past 30 years, there have been only four instances where an unranked Big Ten team upset a top-two opponent on the road. Wisconsin is responsible for three of those wins, with two coming under Gard.<\/p>\n
Since the 2007-08 season, Wisconsin now also has the best record of any Big Ten team at the Crisler Center, going 8-6 in that stretch.
