The Miami Heat<\/a> were recently predicted to land Memphis Grizzlies<\/a> guard Ja Morant.<\/p>\n

ESPN NBA writer Zach Kram proposed<\/a> a trade that would send Morant to Miami for Tyler Herro and Simone Fontecchio.<\/p>\n

“If any change of scenery can help Morant rediscover his All-Star form, it’s a move to Miami,” Kram said. “The “Heat culture” ethos might be clich\u00e9, but it delivers results.”<\/p>\n

The Grizzlies are reportedly listening to offers for Morant, who’s dealt with off-court issues lately. He was suspended by Memphis earlier this season after he was publicly frustrated about his role.<\/p>\n

“Replacing Herro with Morant would increase variance for Miami, as the Grizzlies point guard comes with a lower floor but higher ceiling than Herro,” he said. “It’s difficult to imagine Herro ever being one of the top 10 players in the league, as Morant was in 2021-22.”<\/p>\n

Morant’s played in just 18 of the Grizzlies’ 39 games this season. He’s averaging 19 points, 7.6 assists and shooting 40.1% from the field. His 20.8% 3-point percentage is the lowest average of his career.<\/p>\n

Morant, a 2-time All-Star, has led the Grizzlies to three playoff appearances, including a Western Conference Finals berth in 2022. But the relationship between he and the Grizzlies has soured. He’s averaging a career-low 28.3 minutes per game this season.<\/p>\n

Kram believes including Herro in a potential Morant deal would be a risk worth taking.<\/p>\n

“The combined salaries for Herro and Fontecchio are almost a perfect match for Morant’s, and Morant and Herro are similar enough in present-day value that.”<\/p>\n
