There is almost never an opportunity where Karl-Anthony Towns will avoid a chance to talk about his fondness<\/a> of Minnesota. He spent his formative years playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the blockbuster trade<\/a> has still has him shook<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It has now been a couple of years though, and an intent to move on is being made. Short of a late-career return in the vein of Kevin Garnett<\/a>, there shouldn\u2019t be an expectation that Towns reunites with Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Thus, he has no reason to own property in the state either. That\u2019s where the rubber has finally met the road.<\/p>\n

Towns removes a MN Timberwolves tie<\/p>\n

The Minnesota Timberwolves played Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks<\/a> at Target Center just before Christmas. At that time, the big man had a home in Medina that he could have crashed at. Now it\u2019s changed hands, and his roots in Minnesota have been uplifted.<\/p>\n

A more than 17,000-square-foot gated estate in Medina that once belonged to both a felonious businessman and a basketball star sold last month for $4.75 million.<\/p>\n

The house, at\u00a01492 Hunter Drive\u00a0along the east edge of the Twin Cities suburb, most recently housed former Minnesota Timberwolves, now New York Knicks, player Karl-Anthony Towns. He, through a Florida-based entity linked to him, sold it to an anonymous buyer behind the Wild Indigo Revocable Trust, according to a document filed at the end of December with the Minnesota Department of Revenue. The buyer paid cash and plans to use it as a primary residence.<\/p>\n

Jim Buchta<\/a> (Star Tribune) reported on the close of the sale. Towns originally bought the house in 2018 for $4.52 million. A previous owner before Towns, Denny Hecker, was sentenced to prison<\/a> for fraud.<\/p>\n

Towns listed the home after he was sent to the New York Knicks. While he is still clearly fond of his time in Minnesota, it\u2019s not enough to have him keeping property here. Over the holiday season he proposed<\/a> to longtime girlfriend Jordyn Woods.<\/p>\n

The gorgeous home not only carries a history from its ownership, but also stands out as an architectural marvel. The property includes a whopping 10 fireplaces, nine bathrooms, six bedrooms, and two swimming pools.<\/p>\n

There is plenty of space for wheels with an 11-car garage, and multiple sports amenities are present as well. It\u2019s clear to see why Towns would have been drawn to the property.<\/p>\n

New York called home for Towns<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old Towns hails from Edison, New Jersey. While he found a sense of peace with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the New York Knicks are a slice of home.<\/p>\n

He was named an All-Star during his first season with the Knicks, and earned Third-Team All-NBA honors. This season, across 36 games<\/a>, Towns has averaged 21.2 points per game. He is shooting 47.1% from the floor and 35.5% from deep.<\/p>\n

Towns has certainly slid a bit during his 11th year in the NBA. However, he remains a productive member of a 25-14 New York team that currently sits second in the Eastern Conference. It\u2019s possible that the MN Timberwolves find themselves seeking their first championship and needing to go through Towns to get there.<\/p>\n
