With trade rumours circulating seemingly weekly about the status of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee was hoping for a best-case scenario this season following a tumultuous summer. Desperate to shake things up but not having many options, they managed to add Myles Turner in the offseason and have relied on internal growth from players like 4th year guard Ryan Rollins. Turner has been disappointing though, and an injury to Antetokounmpo kept him out for much of December. Milwaukee went into free fall with that injury, culminating in where they are now: Booed off their home court following a 33-point loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves with Antetokounmpo in the line-up.

Meanwhile, things have been a bit rocky for the Spurs to kick off the New Year, with just a 3-4 record in the month of January. The offense has been hit or miss, especially from beyond the 3-point line, often leading to scoring droughts that take them out of games. A struggling Milwaukee team that’s clearly in disarray in front of the home crowd could be the jump start this team needs, but the struggling Bucks for the meantime still boast the services of Antetokounmpo.

San Antonio Spurs (27-13) vs Milwaukee Bucks (17-23)

January 15 2026 | 7:00 PM CT

Watch: FDSS | Listen: WOAI (1200 AM)

Spurs Injuries: Devin Vassell, OUT

Bucks Injuries: None

What to watch for

Though he’s missed significant time already this season (14 games missed to injury), the Greek Freak still remains one of the league’s very best when healthy. His numbers are down a few ticks across the board, but he’s as ridiculous as ever around the basket. He’s shooting an absurd 65% from the field, even without an incredible outside shot. FT shooting remains an issue, but he’s still getting there nearly 10 times a game. He and Victor Wembanyama have already had a few memorable encounters, so it’s safe to say that’s the match-up very one will be tuning in for.

2022 second rounder Ryan Rollins is having a career year. Originally drafted by the Golden State Warriors, Rollins only played in 25 games total throughout his brief NBA career before playing 56 last year in a bench role. This year he’s found himself in the starting line-up in 35 of Milwaukee’s 40 games, contributing almost 17/5/6 a night on great shooting percentages (46.5/39.8/77.1). He’s scored a career-high 32 points twice this season, with both times coming early on in the year.

De’Aaron Fox has failed to score at least 20 points in 5 of San Antonio’s last 6 contests. The Spurs have gone 2-4 in that span and while it’s not entirely on Fox, they still need much more out of him, especially in a starting line-up that’s still without Devin Vassell and with Harrison Barnes mired in an offensive struggle.

If you’d like to, you may follow along with the game on our Twitter profile (@poundingtherock) or visit our Game Thread!

It really hasn’t been the sort of season the Milwaukee Bucks were hoping for.
