And Josh Hart joined him on the sideline.<\/p>\n<p>Brunson missed his second straight game with a sprained right ankle during the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/17\/sports\/depleted-knicks-suffer-sloppy-loss-to-suns-as-downward-spiral-continues\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">106-99 loss to the Suns <\/a>at Madison Square Garden. John Jones-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s just a little sore,\u201d coach Mike Brown said of Hart. \u201cSo we\u2019re just going to be cautious, especially this time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miles McBride and Mohamed Diawara started in their place.<\/p>\n<p>Brunson suffered his ankle sprain in the loss to the Kings in Sacramento on Wednesday. It was considered a minor sprain, The Post\u2019s Stefan Bondy reported. <\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s the second time this year he sprained that ankle \u2014 he missed two games earlier in the year with a sprained right ankle.<\/p>\n<p>Hart missed eight games with a sprain to that right ankle, but returned for three games prior to Saturday. And he returned with no minutes restriction for those three games. In Thursday\u2019s loss on the road to the Warriors, he played 37 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Now, he is dealing with soreness.<\/p>\n<p>Brunson and Hart are both considered day-to-day.<\/p>\n<p>The Knicks have not been at full strength since Nov. 22, when Landry Shamet went out with a shoulder sprain during a loss to the Magic in Orlando. Shamet returned Thursday, with Saturday representing his second game back.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat\u2019s happening on and off the Garden court\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Inside the Knicks by Stefan Bondy, a weekly exclusive on Sports+.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Kolek\u2019s rough stretch continued Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>He was a game-worst minus-17 in 17 minutes off the bench, recording just two points on 1-for-3 shooting from the field. He had three turnovers and just one assist.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday was the Knicks homecoming game, with dozens of alumni at MSG to celebrate. Fans had a chance for autographs and pictures prior to the game.<\/p>\n<p>Alumni also rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange earlier Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood night to be at the Garden, it\u2019s alumni night,\u201d Brown said. \u201cTo honor the guys that were before us is a good night because they laid the foundation helping this building become iconic and the Knicks being what they are today.
