The OKC Thunder<\/a> star was named the 2024-25 NBA Most Valuable Player<\/a>, becoming the third player in franchise history to receive that honor. He also landed on the All-NBA first team<\/a> for the third straight season.<\/p>\n

Gilgeous-Alexander is eligible for a super-max extension.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old guard met that criteria, which requires a player to earn an All-NBA selection in two out of three years, last offseason. However, he was ineligible to sign at the time because he hadn’t met the years of service criteria.<\/p>\n

When can Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sign a super-max extension?<\/p>\n

OKC can sign Gilgeous-Alexander to a four-year, $293 million super-max extension this offseason. It would keep him with the Thunder through 2030-31.<\/p>\n

Gilgeous-Alexander would be the first NBA player to earn over $80 million in one season. This deal would take up 35% of the projected 2027-28 salary cap, according to ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2027-28: $65.7 million2028-29: $70.9 million2029-30: $76.2 million2030-31: $81.4 million<\/p>\n
