While reports have suggested the Miami Heat<\/a> have interest in making a trade for Memphis Grizzlies<\/a> star Ja Morant<\/a>, a new rumor claims they won\u2019t do it even if the deal didn\u2019t cost them as much as expected.<\/p>\n

With Trae Young<\/a> off the trade block after the Atlanta Hawks<\/a> sent him to the Washington Wizards<\/a> earlier this month, the biggest name up for grabs at the moment is Morant. Especially with a Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a> trade now looking unlikely.<\/p>\n

A few years ago, a trade for the two-time All-Star would have netted a huge return. However, due to off-court drama, a bunch of injuries, and a regression in his play over the last three years, Morant\u2019s trade value has dropped significantly. Nevertheless, he is still viewed as a player with superstar potential following a change of scenery.<\/p>\n

That is why recent rumors suggested the MIA Heat have had internal conversations about a trade for the talented yet difficult guard. The word is that some inside the organization<\/a> believe their infrastructure could bring about a return to elite status for Morant.<\/p>\n

However, in recent days, reports have suggested Miami\u2019s interest may not be as strong as some believe. On Monday, NBA insider Marc Stein<\/a> added to that speculation with a surprising update to the trade rumors.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne well-placed league source insisted to me that the Heat should be scratched as a Morant suitor \u2014 even if the terms are favorable \u2014 if such a move jeopardizes a future trade run at Milwaukee\u2019s Giannis Antetokounmpo,\u201d Stein reports. <\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 Word is that Miami believes it will be firmly in the mix as a legit trade destination for Antetokounmpo if he actually becomes available at season\u2019s end \u2014 at last \u2014 as various rival teams project,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The stance is surprising considering the Greek superstar\u2019s opinion on leaving Milwaukee has not changed despite a very disappointing 2025-26 for the Bucks. Furthermore, a starting five featuring Bam Adebayo<\/a>, Tyler Herro<\/a>, Norman Powell, and Ja Morant could be a favorite in the East during the spring.<\/p>\n
