LeBron James (41, Los Angeles Lakers), the “living legend” of the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA), is out of the starting lineup for the All-Star Game for the first time in 22 years.<\/p>\n

The NBA announced the list of All-Star selection for the 2025-26 season on its website on January 20 (Korea Standard Time).<\/p>\n

This season’s All-Star Game will be held at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, the U.S. on the 16th of next month.<\/p>\n

A total of 10 starters, five each from the East and West conferences, were announced that day. Five people with the highest score for each conference were selected by calculating the rankings of fans (50%), players (25%), and media panels (25%).<\/p>\n

What stands out is the absence of James’ name from the Western Conference selection.<\/p>\n

James, who made his NBA debut in 2003, was included in the NBA All-Star selection list for the 21st consecutive year from 2005 to last year.<\/p>\n

James set up the first 20 consecutive All-Star selection in NBA history in 2024, and he was also on the starting list last year when he turned 40.<\/p>\n

However, this year, it ranked 8th in fan and player voting and 9th in media voting, ranking 9th in total score, and did not make it to the ‘Best 5’.<\/p>\n

James, who will spend his 23rd season in the NBA for the first time, has played in 24 games this season and has an average of 22.6 points and 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds. Although he remains active, James has missed 14 games since the opening due to injury, and last month, he has not been the same, stopping his 18-year double-digit scoring streak.<\/p>\n

The All-Star Game will be held in such a way that a total of 24 players, including 10 starters and 14 reserves, will compete in two “American teams” and one “World Team.”<\/p>\n

The reserve list, which league managers vote to select seven players for each conference, will be released early next month.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Adam Silver may select additional players if the number of people needed for each team is not met after the reserve list is confirmed.<\/p>\n

For James, he has to join the reserve list or wait for the commissioner’s recommendation to play in the All-Star Game.<\/p>\n

Nikola Jokic (Denver), Luka Doncic (Lakers), Shai Gilzer Alexander (Oklahoma City), Stephen Curry (Golden State), and Victor Wembley (San Antonio) were on the Western Conference roster without James.<\/p>\n

Yannis Antetokounmpo of Milwaukee, Cade Cunningham of Detroit, Tyreece Maxey of Philadelphia, Jaylon Brunson of New York and Jaylon Brown of Boston were selected as starters in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

In the fan vote, Doncic received the most votes, 3,402,967, while Antetokounmpo received 3,218,398.<\/p>\n
