It would not be a stretch to describe the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>‘ comeback win over the Denver Nuggets<\/a> on Tuesday as “historic.”<\/p>\n

Not only did Lakers guard and top All-Star vote-getter Luka Doncic surpass Nikola Jokic on the all-time leaderboard with his 52nd 30-point triple-double, but LeBron James flirted with a triple-double of his own in the 115-107 win that kept his one-of-a-kind season on course.<\/p>\n

James, the first player in NBA history to take part in 23 professional seasons, is on pace to shatter Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing record of points per game from a 41-year-old player.<\/p>\n

Jamea this season is averaging 25 points per game since his 41st birthday on Dec. 30, while Abdul-Jabbar averaged just 10.4 after he turned 41 years old on April 16, 1988. Abdul-Jabbar announced his retirement the following year.<\/p>\n

It is not yet certain whether James is going to call it quits in 2026, or whether he will continue his career for another year — or possibly longer.<\/p>\n

Either way, each game James plays from here on out is historic, by definition.<\/p>\n
