Neemias Queta is listed as questionable ahead of the Boston Celtics game against the Brooklyn Nets<\/a> on Friday, Jan. 23. The impressive 7-footer is dealing with a non-COVID-related illness. The medical staff will likely make a final decision regarding Queta’s availability closer to tip-off.<\/p>\n Josh Minott (ankle), Derrick White (rest) and Jayson Tatum (Achilles) join Queta on the Celtics injury report; however, that trio is all listed as “out” and will not participate in the contest. Should Queta miss the game, Joe Mazzulla could lean into a small-ball lineup, or he could lean on Chris Boucher. The veteran forward has struggled for playing time since signing with the Celtics during the summer.<\/p>\n Queta has been a rock for the Celtics this season. In 41 games, he’s averaging 10.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists, shooting 65.7% from the field. He’s shown legitimate growth as a screener, rebounder and shot blocker. Furthermore, Queta’s defensive IQ has noticeably increased, which is likely, while his foul rate hasn’t spiked, despite the additional minutes.<\/p>\n Should Queta be ruled out, Luka Garza could be in line for his second start of the season.
