{"id":557484,"date":"2026-01-24T10:04:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T10:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/557484\/"},"modified":"2026-01-24T10:04:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T10:04:21","slug":"warriors-forward-out-with-knee-ailment-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/557484\/","title":{"rendered":"Warriors forward out with knee ailment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MINNEAPOLIS \u2013 The Warriors will begin their two-game series in Minneapolis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/01\/23\/jimmy-butler-acl-injury-warriors-moneyball-steve-kerr\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">critically undermanned on the wing<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/01\/22\/jonathan-kuminga-knee-injury-update-warriors-mavericks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Kuminga was ruled out of Saturday\u2019s game<\/a> against the Wolves, diagnosed with left knee soreness on the team\u2019s official injury report. He tweaked both his knee and ankle on a drive with 4:28 left in Thursday\u2019s 123-115 loss to the Mavericks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kuminga, 23, left the game a few moments later and did not return. With his departure, the Warriors were down both Kuminga and Jimmy Butler, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/01\/19\/jimmy-butler-knee-injury-warriors-heat\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recently lost for the season with an ACL tear.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is not yet known if the injury will keep Kuminga out for multiple games.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After being a healthy scratch for over a month and requesting a trade after his Jan. 15 trade restriction passed, Butler\u2019s injury forced coach Steve Kerr\u2019s hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kuminga was back in the rotation and thrived as a scorer, putting up 30 points in 30 minutes before exiting with his knee injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Warriors are now down to Gui Santos, Buddy Hield, Will Richard and Gary Payton II on the wing.
