The social post from Flom had garnered so much attention that even coach Tyronn Lue weighed in when asked about it postgame, saying that Flom has “gotta go live (on camera).”

A 31-year-old from Los Angeles, Flom now lives in Michigan. He became a fan during the start of the Lob City era with rookie Blake Griffin. He witnessed the beginning and end of the Paul George and Kawhi Leonard era, and the current era led by an aging Leonard and 36-year-old James Harden.

He’s seen plenty of ups and downs, from a fledgling squad perched on the doorstep of championship contention to the “disappointment” he saw at the start of this 2025-26 season.

Flom struggled to stomach the 6-21 basketball team he was watching in late December. Three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal, who had just inked a two-year $11 million contract, was already lost for the season with a left hip fracture. Chris Paul, the legendary franchise point guard, had just been sent home from a road trip in his swan song season. On the 18th, he watched them lose to the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder, who own LA’s first-round pick, by 21 points.

It was about a third of the way through the NBA season, and the Clippers were going nowhere fast.

“They were bad at everything,” Flom said. “They were a horrible defense. They were pretty bad on offense. They turned the ball over like crazy. They couldn’t stay healthy. A lot of their older players had hugely disappointed. They weren’t doing anything well, and it was 27 games.

“I didn’t think they would be horrendous the entire season. I thought they would improve, but I thought 15-3, based on what we’ve seen, seemed just about impossible, and they proved it wrong.”

The blogger who’s written and podcasted about the team for “1,000’s of hours” sent his decree that has now drawn more than 2.5 million views.

The night he sent the tweet, the Clippers beat the Lakers, 103-88. They’ve barely lost since.

A lot of the turnaround can be attributed to the re-emergence of 34-year-old two-time Finals MVP Leonard, who missed 10 games early in the season due to foot/ankle injuries.

In the loss to the Thunder on Dec. 18, Leonard scored 21 points before Flom sent his tweet. A member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, Leonard has not scored fewer than 22 since, with three 40-point games, including a career-high 55-point explosion in a win over Eastern Conference-leading Detroit on Dec. 28.

Harden’s 25.6 points per-game average is his highest since the 2019-20 season with the Houston Rockets, when he finished third in MVP voting after averaging 34.3 points per game.

Flom has also praised the youthful, impactful surge from players like Jordan Miller and Kobe Sanders, but also veteran forward John Collins. LA acquired Collins from the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal in July. Through the 6-21 start, the 6-foot-9 forward didn’t tally double-digit rebounds once. He’s had three double-doubles since, and has shot below 50 percent from the field only once.

“(Collins) was an acquisition that a lot of Clipper fans have wanted for years,” Flom said. “A big, physical, athletic forward. The past month and a half or so, he’s been much better on defense. He’s just fit in better on offense. He’s gone from being pretty bad to being John Collins, the guy we thought that the Clippers were going to get.”

Amid a vindicating run, the Clippers (21-24) have risen from the bottom of the Western Conference to the 10th seed and are currently two games clear of the Memphis Grizzlies (18-25) for a play-in spot.

Flom will now literally “eat” his words on a livestream Monday at 5:30 p.m. PT with a fellow Clippers podcast titled “Clips N Dip”. It’s a punishment born from motivation that he might have brought on himself as the players became aware of his challenge.

After the 15th win in the stretch, Clippers forward Nicolas Batum responded to the viral tweet with the expectant eyes emoji. The Clippers’ official X account posted a printed-out paper with Flom’s tweet on it following the Clippers’ win, as well as a video of Sanders taunting down the tunnel, chanting “PaperBowl” in a sing-song voice.

CTRL+P 🖨️ @RichHomieFlom pic.twitter.com/L3NVv81wCn

— LA Clippers (@LAClippers) January 26, 2026

Gooodnight from the #PaperBowl 😴 pic.twitter.com/Ocm8dZWrdI

— LA Clippers (@LAClippers) January 26, 2026

When asked about it, the typically brusque Leonard had a simple message.

“He better try to see if he can eat something else.
