Shaedon Sharpe led Portland (23-25) with 31 points on 11-of-20 shooting and Donovan Clingan recorded a double-double with 14 points and 20 rebounds. Clingan set a team record with 13 offensive rebounds. Portland had a 69-46 edge in rebounding.<\/p>\n
The Blazers built a seven-point lead in the second quarter but the Wizards closed the half on a 29-15 run to take a 50-43 halftime lead.<\/p>\n
Portland took a four-point lead with 3:53 to play following a three-pointer from Avdija, but Washington responded with a 12-2 run to take a six-point lead with 1:01 remaining. After five-straight points from Sharpe cut the deficit to one at 112-111 with Kyshawn George at the free throw line with 15.5 seconds remaining. George would make one of two and Portland called timeout down just two.<\/p>\n
Sharpe’s fadeaway 15-foot fadeaway jumper came up short and Khris Middleton sealed the game at the free throw line.<\/p>\n
Portland mistakes proved costly. The Blazers committed 20 turnovers leading to 29 points for the Wizards and connected on just 13-of-23 from the free throw line.<\/p>\n
In their last two games, Portland is just 33-of-53 from the charity stripe.<\/p>\n
