He led the Magic by making 8 for 10 attempts at the line and added 12 rebounds with four assists, scoring 30-plus points for the second game in a row and fifth time this season.

Black, the lone member of the Magic in double figures with 13 points at the half, kept pace with the Magic star by hitting a trio of triples, notching 20-plus points for the 15th time this season.

The third-year guard was active on both ends when he racked up four steals, seven rebounds and five assists.

“Having lost four in a row, that’s never a place you want to be,” Black said. “But we did a good job of responding. We knew this was a must-win game and I think we just did a good job coming out ready to play.”

Rest of starters

Bane stepped scored 10 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter, marking the 21st time scoring 20-plus in a Magic uniform.

Still on a minutes restriction, Jalen Suggs did a little bit of everything as he totaled 16 points, five rebounds and four assists, but he shot 1 for 7 from beyond the arc.

Wendell Carter Jr. also found himself in foul trouble early when he picked up three fouls prior to halftime. He didn’t let that slow him down when he scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Second unit

Orlando entered 25th in bench points per night (31.7), according to NBA.com.

First off the bench, Tyus Jones knocked down his only 3-pointer and distributed nine assists.

Tristan da Silva led the Magic reserves in scoring with 12 points and had a pair of second-half 3-pointers.

Jonathan Isaac provided disruptive defense by recording two blocks, two steals and five rebounds with four points in 17 minutes.

“He changed the game defensively,” Mosley said about Isaac. “Being able to go in there and guard multiple guys, multiple positions, protect the rim. … Just his energy was very infectious for us.”

Paint points

The Magic scored early and often in the paint as they racked up 26 points in the first quarter on 13-for-16 shooting in that area.

Orlando slowed down some in the second quarter when it scored 12 just points in the paint, shooting 6-for-14 in that stretch.

Miami not only had 28 points in the paint in the first half but also got to the free throw more often off those drives.
