The history of the NCAA tournament is dominated by a small group of programs that have turned excellence into a yearly expectation. From the pioneers of the 1980s to the modern super-teams, here are the ten schools that have filled their trophy cases with the most hardware in Division I history.

Texas A&M AggiesJan 18, 2026; Austin, Texas, USA; Texas Longhorns guard Aaliyah Crump (23) gets control of the ball from Texas A&M Aggies guard Pien Steenbergen (7) during the second half at Moody Center. The Tigers used a high-powered offense to beat Iowa 102-85 in the 2023 final, finishing the year with a 34-2 record. That 102-point outburst remains one of the most impressive offensive displays in title game history.

Notre Dame Fighting IrishMar 29, 2025; Birmingham, AL, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard Hannah Hidalgo (3) tries not to touch the ball as it goes out of bounds during the first half of a Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament basketball game against the TCU Horned Frogs at Legacy Arena.
