Gary Blair led the Aggies to the mountaintop in 2011, securing the program\u2019s only national title. They capped off a 33-5 season by defeating Notre Dame 76-70 in Indianapolis. Kim Mulkey wasted no time making history in Baton Rouge, delivering a championship in just her second season. The Tigers used a high-powered offense to beat Iowa 102-85 in the 2023 final, finishing the year with a 34-2 record. Stat: 2 Championships (2001, 2018)<\/p>\n

Muffet McGraw built the Irish into a perennial contender, leading them to nine Final Fours and five runner-up finishes. They broke through for titles in 2001 and 2018, with the latter a thriller in which they beat Mississippi State 61-58. They nearly added a third in 2019 but fell one point short against Baylor in the final.\u200b<\/p>\n

Louisiana Tech holds the distinction of being the first-ever NCAA Division I champion, defeating Cheyney 76-62 in the inaugural 1982 title game. They added a second championship in 1988 and appeared in four of the first seven finals. Stat: 2 Championships (1983, 1984)<\/p>\n

The Trojans were the first program to successfully defend their title, winning back-to-back championships in 1983 and 1984. They defeated Louisiana Tech to win their first and then edged out Tennessee by just two points the following year. That 1984 loss famously left legendary coach Pat Summitt winless in her first trip to the national championship game.\u200b<\/p>\n

Stat: 3 Championships (1990, 1992, 2021)<\/p>\n

Tara VanDerveer has made Stanford a model of consistency with 15 Final Four appearances over several decades. After winning two titles in the early \u201990s, the Cardinals endured a long drought before capturing their third championship in 2021. They secured that win with a gritty 54-53 victory over fellow Pac-12 foe Arizona.\u200b<\/p>\n

Under Kim Mulkey, Baylor became a force that won titles in three different decades. Their 2012 championship team was historically dominant, finishing with a perfect 40-0 record. They added a third banner in 2019, edging out Notre Dame 82-81 in one of the tightest championship games in recent memory.\u200b<\/p>\n

Dawn Staley has turned the Gamecocks into the premier program of the 2020s, with seven Final Four trips to their name. They won it all in 2017 and 2022, then completed a flawless 38-0 season to win the 2024 title. They nearly repeated in 2025 but fell to UConn in the final, 82-59.\u200b<\/p>\n

Pat Summitt\u2019s legacy remains untouched, having coached for 38 seasons without a single losing season. The Lady Vols won eight national championships between 1987 and 2008, including a sparkling \u201cthree-peat\u201d from 1996 to 1998. The Huskies extended their record to 12 national titles by defeating South Carolina 82-59 in the 2025 championship game. This victory ended a drought that stretched back to 2016 and reaffirmed their dominance. Their resume includes six undefeated seasons and a staggering 111-game winning streak that lasted from 2014 to 2017.\u200b<\/p>\n
