Steph Curry\u2019s<\/a> on-court accomplishments are well known, from his four NBA championships to his two MVP awards to his 4,229 made 3-point shots.<\/p>\n

This week, he was recognized in another realm: filmmaking.<\/p>\n

The Warriors superstar\u2019s short documentary co-directed with two-time Oscar winner Ben Proudfoot, \u201cThe Baddest Speechwriter of All\u201d<\/a>, won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.<\/p>\n

The film is centered around Clarence B. Jones<\/a>, a former lawyer and speechwriter for Martin Luther King Jr.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese types of awards only further the opportunity to tell Clarence\u2019s story,\u201d Curry told reporters after the Warriors\u2019 140-124 win over the Jazz<\/a> on Wednesday night. \u201cHe\u2019s 95 years old. He\u2019s had such an impact on our country through his civil rights works, his speechwriting, his legal work for Dr. King.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the description on its Sundance profile, \u201cThe Baddest Speechwriter of All\u201d, focuses on Jones as he \u201creflects on the personal cost and surprising truths of making history, offering an intimate insider\u2019s view of the Civil Rights Movement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones was instrumental in secretly taking King\u2019s writing from the Birmingham City Jail in 1963, publishing and distributing it as the landmark \u201cLetter from Birmingham Jail\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Warriors were coincidentally in Utah as the award was announced, having flown in from Minnesota before Wednesday\u2019s game, but Curry couldn\u2019t make the trip to Park City, where Sundance is being held for the final time this year before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the first time I\u2019ve done an acceptance speech over WhatsApp video,\u201d Curry said. \u201cBen was up there on stage and put the phone next to the mic and I got to give, like, a 30-second speech. I was there in spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curry is also a producer on \u201cGOAT\u201d, an animated film releasing Feb. 13 in time for All-Star weekend. That movie focuses on an undersized goat trying to find his way into the professional sport of \u201croarball,\u201d which features predominantly larger, stronger beasts in the film\u2019s all-animal world. That climb just might sound familiar to Warriors fans.<\/p>\n

About those rumors\u2026<\/p>\n

Curry, who scored 27 points in the win, said he isn\u2019t wasting energy wondering if the Warriors will trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>, after the Milwaukee Bucks star made clear via ESPN that he is ready to be traded.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old point guard and film producer said that was up to general manager Mike Dunleavy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t ever get into hypotheticals. It\u2019s a waste of time, it\u2019s a waste of energy. It\u2019s not my job to do that,\u201d Curry said. \u201cMike and the entire front office are, I\u2019m sure, making calls, I\u2019m sure taking looks, making sure what\u2019s going on. And if there\u2019s something material, something real, we have conversations about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
