Revenge tasted sweet for the Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> on Thursday night, as they took down the reigning NBA<\/a> champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a>, at Target Center in Minneapolis to the tune of a 123-111 score.<\/p>\n

The Thunder were the ones who eliminated Anthony Edwards<\/a> and company in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, winning the Western Conference finals series in five games. They also defeated Minnesota in their first meeting since the playoffs in November at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, 113-105.<\/p>\n

But now, the Timberwolves have a two-game winning streak going for versus Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a> and the Thunder, and Edwards did not hide his delight over it following Thursday’s matchup.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s super personal for me because they put us out last year and they got the reigning MVP,” Edwards said during the postgame interview.<\/p>\n

“It’s super personal. I think a win like this shows that if we bring defensive intensity every night, we’re gonna be alright,\u201d the former Georgia Bulldogs<\/a> star added.<\/p>\n

Minnesota leaned on its excellent outshooting and speed in transition to take down the defending champs, as the Timberwolves shot 22-for-47 from behind the arc and were plus-10 in fastbreak points (23-13).<\/p>\n

Edwards led the way for the home team with 26 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the floor, while Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid contributed 21 and 18 points, respectively, for the Thunder.<\/p>\n

Reigning NBA MVP Gilgeous-Alexander paced the Thunder with 30 points.<\/p>\n

As it stands, Minnesota leads the regular-season series against the Thunder 2-1, with one more game to be played between these NBA title contenders on March 15 in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n
