{"id":572745,"date":"2026-01-31T10:41:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T10:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/572745\/"},"modified":"2026-01-31T10:41:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T10:41:13","slug":"warriors-draymond-green-rips-referee-jt-orr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/572745\/","title":{"rendered":"Warriors\u2019 Draymond Green rips referee JT Orr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2013 Standing a few feet from his locker and speaking an hour before midnight after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2026\/01\/30\/steph-curry-injury-knee-update-warriors-pistons\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Warriors\u2019 loss to the Pistons at Chase Center on Friday<\/a>, Draymond Green did not sugarcoat his words.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He vehemently disagreed with JT Orr\u2019s officiating on inbounds plays, and described Orr\u2019s decision to give Green a technical foul with 8:44 left in the second quarter as insulting for reasons that went beyond basketball.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI find it very ironic that I got a technical foul for telling a Caucasian referee not to put his hand in my face,\u201d Green said. \u201cAs a Black man in America, don\u2019t put your hand in my face. I said \u201cHey, don\u2019t put your hand in my face\u201d and I got a tech, so I thought that was the most interesting part of the night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Green and Orr had engaged in a minutes-long dialogue throughout the quarter, and Green continued the conversation even as Orr went to the scorers\u2019 table to begin a replay review on a missed Pistons foul on Green.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDraymond, this is your chance to stop talking to me,\u201d is what Green recalled Orr telling him, with Green responding, \u201cBro, don\u2019t put your hand in my face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Green then said Orr told him, \u201cOh, tech.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was Green\u2019s 10th technical foul of the season. If he accumulates 16 during the regular season, Green will have to serve a mandatory one-game suspension, something he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/news\/warriors-draymond-green-suspended-16th-technical\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">most recently did during the 2022-23 season when he received 17<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The NBA did not respond immediately to a request for comment by the Bay Area News Group.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody wants to talk about holding the line of respect, but that line needs to be held both ways,\u201d Green said. \u201cIf the line won\u2019t be held both ways, it won\u2019t be held from my way, because we\u2019re all men and we can all make decisions and choices.
