It is anyone’s guess what LeBron James will do as far as his basketball career is concerned after this season. He is in the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>, and for many months, there has been lots of speculation about what he will decide to do this summer.<\/p>\n

He could very well decide to re-sign with the Lakers, and he could also decide to call it a career. The third option, needless to say, would be for him to move on and join another team.<\/p>\n

This week, an ESPN report<\/a> indicated that the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, the team with which James spent 11 seasons during two separate stints, would “gladly welcome” him back this summer. According to another recent report<\/a>, the Golden State Warriors<\/a> will look to explore signing James this summer.<\/p>\n

Now, sources told Lakers Daily<\/a> that, in addition to the Cavaliers and Warriors, the Dallas Mavericks<\/a> will be interested in the 41-year-old, as will the Lakers themselves.<\/p>\n

“If LeBron James doesn\u2019t retire from the NBA this offseason, the future Hall of Famer will receive interest from four teams, sources told Lakers Daily,” wrote Ashish Mathur.<\/p>\n

“The Los Angeles Lakers, James\u2019 current team, along with the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in signing James this offseason, sources said.”<\/p>\n

Many Lakers fans seem to want James to leave one way or another, but if he wants to stay put, one has to figure the franchise will look to make it happen, especially given its history of catering to its superstars.<\/p>\n

The Mavericks would be an interesting choice for him. They feature two of his former star teammates \u2014 Kyrie Irving, with whom he won an NBA championship in 2016, and Anthony Davis, who helped him lead the Lakers to their most recent world title. Of course, they also have Cooper Flagg, the rookie phenom from Duke University who is averaging 19.5 points on 48.2% field-goal shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game.<\/p>\n
