In an interview today on ESPN, Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> head coach Doc Rivers revealed what his favorite day of the year is.<\/p>\n

This Friday.<\/p>\n

What special holiday or event is coming up for Rivers to start the weekend?<\/p>\n

It’s the day after the NBA<\/a> trade deadline.<\/p>\n

Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a> is the center focus of every team in the league at the moment, as we are closing in on whether the multi-time MVP will be wearing a new NBA jersey for the first time in his career.<\/p>\n

Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to their second-ever championship in 2021 and has been on the search since to win a second ring. As the Bucks have slid down the hierarchy in basketball and the team now looks closer to a rebuild than to contending, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have had increasingly intense talks about his future.<\/p>\n

While much of the NBA world believes the “Greek Freak” has done everything possible aside from publicly asking for a trade, his coach isn’t buying any of the noise.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, he issued a strong statement backing his best player and his willingness to remain with the Bucks for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

“Giannis has said everything that we need to hear,” Rivers said. “That he wants to be a Buck. He loves the city. That’s all I can go by as a coach right now.”<\/p>\n

As a coach, Rivers is on a hot seat, possibly out of Wisconsin, with the team a disappointing 18-28 and on a four-game losing streak. Antetokounmpo could be out for another month with a calf sprain he suffered last week in a game against the Denver Nuggets.<\/p>\n

Although the veteran strategic leader of the Bucks wants to quell any trade rumors, that has not stopped pundits, insiders, and teams from zeroing in on a possible Antetokounmpo transfer.<\/p>\n

The Miami Heat<\/a>, New York Knicks<\/a>, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Golden State Warriors<\/a> have all been linked to a possible Antetokounmpo trade in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n
