Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns is dealing with a sprained ankle.<\/p>\n
It has been more than a week since Devin Booker<\/a> suffered a sprained right ankle against the Atlanta Hawks<\/a>. The Phoenix Suns<\/a> have dropped the latest update on Booker\u2019s injury and his potential return date.<\/p>\n Speaking to reporters before the game against the Los Angeles Clippers<\/a> on Sunday, coach Jordan Ott<\/a> provided an update on Booker\u2019s progress. Ott was a little vague about the possible timeline for the Suns star\u2019s on-court return.<\/p>\n \u201cWe know who he is. As soon as he can get out there, he\u2019s going to get out there, whether the All-Star break is tomorrow or in two weeks. He\u2019s going to rehab like crazy. He was in there again this morning. Whenever he\u2019s ready, he will be out there,\u201d Ott said, via Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic<\/a>.<\/p>\n Booker has missed<\/a> the last five games because of a sprained ankle. Based on Ott\u2019s comments, he\u2019s doing his best to return as soon as possible and could be considered day-to-day any day now, with his next chance of suiting up coming on February 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers<\/a>.<\/p>\n Booker Re-Evaluated Over The Weekend<\/p>\n ESPN<\/a> reported back on January 25 that Devin Booker was scheduled for re-evaluation in one week. That week passed over the weekend, and coach Jordan Ott made a startling revelation about Booker\u2019s rehab.<\/p>\n \u201cHe just continues to progress. He is skipping steps basically on how fast he can do it. I think this has been his history. He\u2019s had other injuries and been able to recover incredibly fast, too,\u201d Ott said.<\/p>\n While \u201cskipping steps\u201d is certainly concerning, it\u2019s probably just an expression by Ott regarding the pace Booker is in during his recovery. The recently named All-Star reserve suffered a bad-looking injury, so he was lucky that he was ruled out for a long period.<\/p>\n Booker\u2019s right ankle was at a bad angle after he stepped on Onyeka Okongwu<\/a>\u2018s foot while running back on defense late in the third quarter. He wasn\u2019t in a walking boot after the game, so he was fortunate that it wasn\u2019t severe.<\/p>\n Booker Comments on Being Named an All-Star<\/p>\n For the fifth time in his career, Devin Booker was named an NBA<\/a> All-Star. It was a well-deserved accolade for Booker, who is averaging<\/a> 25.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game this season.<\/p>\n Joining the Suns\u2019 broadcast team on Sunday\u2019s game against the Clippers, Booker reacted to his All-Star nod. He was happy about the recognition, but he wanted everyone to know that the team\u2019s success is more important, especially after many counted them out before the season started.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst, I\u2019ve got to thank the team. I\u2019ve had statistically some better years where I didn\u2019t make the game and that all comes back to team success. I\u2019ve been hearing that since I\u2019ve been in the league and we\u2019ve exceeded expectations from top to bottom. It\u2019s been fun to turn this thing around and we\u2019re playing some pretty good basketball,\u201d Booker said, via Wendy Lopez of Burn City Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Suns already reached their win total from last season, with a current record of 30-20.
