Despite regression pretty much across the board<\/a>, Karl-Anthony Towns is still an All-Star.<\/p>\n

He was named an All-Star reserve Sunday, joining Jalen Brunson, who is a starter, as the two Knicks representatives.<\/p>\n

Towns entered Sunday averaging 20 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists \u2014 all down from last season.<\/p>\n

His efficiency is down as well; he entered Sunday shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from 3-point range.<\/p>\n

Reserves are determined by the league\u2019s head coaches. <\/p>\n

Evidently, they still see Towns as an All-Star caliber player.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a firm believer that winning should be a big factor in it,\u201d coach Mike Brown said before the Knicks\u2019 112-100 win over the Lakers on Sunday<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re sitting second or third in the East right now, so we should have multiple guys on the team. Jalen, definitely, he\u2019s in the MVP conversation, but we\u2019ve got other guys on this team that have stepped up and helped in a lot of different ways.<\/p>\n

\u201cKAT, he\u2019s leading us in rebounds, he\u2019s second in scoring. I don\u2019t know how many double-doubles he has, but that\u2019s impactful when you\u2019re talking about doing it in a winning situation. \u2026 We should have, in my opinion, two or three guys, at least, on this All-Star team based on what our record is. Not only that \u2014 we were NBA Cup champions, so there are a lot of positives, in my opinion, that point for that to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Towns\u2019 third straight All-Star nod and sixth total. <\/p>\n

Last year, he was a starter.<\/p>\n

The Knicks continue to claim Miles McBride has not suffered a new injury.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s despite him missing his third straight game Sunday, when the Knicks hosted the Lakers at the Garden. <\/p>\n

They have listed it as left ankle injury management.<\/p>\n

McBride missed eight games earlier this season with a sprain to that left ankle. <\/p>\n

Load management usually involves players missing one, maybe two games. <\/p>\n

Sitting three straight games for load management is rare.<\/p>\n

But Brown said he\u2019s being held out for precaution and that McBride is just dealing with some soreness.<\/p>\n

It is similar to the Knicks messaging with Mitchell Robinson and his own left ankle injury management. <\/p>\n

He sat out the first four games of the year and then three straight games at the end of December into the start of January for load management, with the Knicks adamant that he did not suffer any new injury.<\/p>\n

Guerschon Yabusele, whom The Post has reported the Knicks are looking to trade, and Jordan Clarkson, who has tumbled out of Brown\u2019s rotation during this win streak, were the only Knicks not to play on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Despite regression pretty much across the board, Karl-Anthony Towns is still an All-Star.
