Mike Dunleavy\u2019s connection to\u00a0Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0begin with the Warriors’ reported trade interest<\/a> in the Milwaukee Bucks star. <\/p>\n

It\u00a0reaches\u00a0back over a decade. <\/p>\n

As pointed out by\u00a0The Athletic\u2019s Nick Friedell<\/a>, Dunleavy and Antetokounmpo matched up in the\u00a02014-15 NBA playoffs\u00a0as the Chicago Bulls faced off against the Bucks in a first-round series. <\/p>\n

The\u00a0Bulls were blowing out the Bucks in Game 6<\/a>. In the second quarter,\u00a0with Chicago up 30, Dunleavy lined up for a 3-point shot in transition.\u00a0The then-20-year-old Bucks\u00a0big man ran the length of the floor and leveled Dunleavy with a\u00a0hit in the midsection well after the shot release, knocking the Bulls wing to the ground in front of the courtside seats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Antetokounmpo was given a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 and was ejected from the contest.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The game was getting chippy early.\u00a0Bucks guard Michael Carter-Williams took a hit in the face from Dunleavy as he\u00a0attempted\u00a0a layup in the first quarter. Just before Antetokounmpo lined up his shot on Dunleavy,\u00a0he was knocked\u00a0to the ground after\u00a0contact with\u00a0Dunleavy in the post.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Frustrations got the best of Antetokounmpo, and he took it out on Dunleavy.\u00a0The NBA suspended him one game without pay, which\u00a0Antetokounmpo\u00a0served on opening night the following season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I\u00a0got\u00a0no issues with the guy,\u201d Dunleavy\u00a0said in May 2015<\/a>\u00a0after the Bulls advanced (h\/t Nick Friedell). Nice kid, young kid, going to be a really\u00a0good player. Doesn’t change my\u00a0feeling\u00a0on\u00a0wanting to get over to Mykonos.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

It seems that tensions between the two simmered down shortly after the incident, at least on Dunleavy\u2019s side.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nearly 11\u00a0years after the flagrant foul, Dunleavy and Antetokounmpo\u00a0might find themselves on the same team, as the NBA world waits in anticipation to see what will happen before Thursday\u2019s trade deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n
